The Cliff House is a historic restaurant located in San Francisco, California, United States. While there have been multiple iterations of the Cliff House over the years, the one built in 1964 is known as the modern Cliff House.
The modern Cliff House was constructed on the same site as the original Cliff House, which was built in 1863 and had undergone several rebuilds and renovations throughout its history due to fires and natural disasters. The 1964 structure was designed in a modernist style by architect Richard Neutra and included a distinctive circular design with large glass windows, offering panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Neutra's design for the Cliff House was intended to blend with the natural environment and take advantage of its picturesque location on the cliffs of Lands End. The building featured a restaurant, bar, and a gift shop, all with breathtaking ocean views.
However, in 2003, the modern Cliff House underwent significant renovations, and the original Neutra-designed building was mostly demolished. The renovated Cliff House, completed in 2004, now incorporates elements of Neutra's design but features a more contemporary aesthetic.
